Vol. 466 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Brian Cowen

Question:

211 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of persons in 1995 who were paid in respect of a ten month and 22 month special beef premium respectively; and the number of persons who were paid in respect of both premia during the same period. [10789/96]

I regret that it is not possible in the time available to provide the information in relation to the number of persons paid. However, from statistics available, there were 100,626 applications paid under the ten month and 79,632 applications paid under the 22 month 1995 special beef premium schemes to an estimated 94,000 herd-owners. I should point out that under these schemes, farmers may apply on three occasions of their own choosing throughout the year under both ten and 22 months age categories.

Statistics on the number of persons paid under the 10 month scheme, under the 22 months scheme and under both schemes will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.
