Question:

216 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of reported cases of BSE in County Cork in 1996; and the number of cattle found to be infected with BSE that had been imported into the Republic from either Northern Ireland and other EU countries. [10953/96]

Four cases of BSE have been confirmed in County Cork in 1996. Twelve cases have occurred in animals imported from other member states of the European Union.
