101 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht whether there is a verbal agreement between the heritage services and An Taisce for the heritage services to take responsibility for the Boyne Navigation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10837/96]
I understand that An Taisce claims ownership of most of the Boyne Canal but has not, to date, succeeded in registering its title to the property.
An Taisce has offered to hand over the property to the Waterways Service of my Department. While this public spirited offer is greatly appreciated, unfortunately An Taisce is not at present in a position to provide title to the property which is capable of being transferred.
