142 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health the progress, if any, that has been made regarding the preparation of a European Union action plan for comprehensive research into the effects of radio frequency radiation on health; whether such research has commenced; and when a report on the issue will become available. Limerick East): I am advised by the European Commission that, on the initiative of the Commissioner for Information Technology and the Commissioner for Social Affairs, a group of experts were asked to prepare an action plan for comprehensive research into the effects of radio frequency radiation on health. All the details of the plan are not yet finalised but when this has been done the Commission will then decide on the research programme to be carried out.
