Vol. 467 No. 1

Written Answers. - Small Scale Remedial Works.

Willie Penrose

Question:

194 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to allocate funding to local authorities under the heading of small scale remedial works, with particular emphasis on road safety; whether the schemes submitted by Westmeath County Council have been considered by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12811/96]

Responsibility for such works on non-national roads is a matter for local authorities, funded from their own-resources and the annual discretionary grant from my Department. The allocation of funds for such works on national roads is a matter for the National Roads Authority.
