195 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment the percentage of applications for the essential repair grant that were approved on a county by county basis; and if he will make a statement on the suitability of the essential repairs grant criteria. [12822/96]
The essential repairs grant scheme is administered by the local authorities. My Department's role relates primarily to the recoupment of a proposition of local authority expenditure on the payment of grants. Therefore, the information requested is not available in the Department.
I am satisfied that local authorities generally are providing a reasonable level of service in terms of processing applications, the level of grant being paid and the discharge of claims for payment.
