Vol. 467 No. 1

Written Answers. - Carrickmacross (Monaghan) School.

James Leonard

Question:

22 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Education if she will make provision in the 1997 school building budget for funding in respect of the Patrician High School, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, in view of the serious shortage of accommodation at this school. [12619/96]

I am aware of the accommodation requirements of the Patrician High School, Carrickmacross. In this regard my Department has approved in principle the provision of a permanent extension for the school. This extension is at the early stages of the planning process. It is expected that architectural planning of the project will commence shortly.

The question of proceeding to construction will be considered in light of available resources on completion of the architectural planning process. In order to address the immediate accommodation needs of the school, I have recently approved the invitation of tenders for the provision of two general classrooms, toilets and cloakrooms in prefabricated accommodation.
