Vol. 467 No. 2

Written Answers. - Planning Regulations.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

113 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment whether the planning regulations prohibit the use of red brick in the building of domestic dwellings; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13022/96]

Each planning authority may include in its development plan objectives for regulating and controlling the design, colour and materials of structures. Where such an objective is included in the development plan, the planning authority must have regard to it in determining individual planning applications. Otherwise, it is a matter for the planning authority to decide on the type of finish that is acceptable, having regard to the proper planning and development of the area.
