Vol. 467 No. 3

Written Answers. - Celbridge (Kildare) College Extension.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

87 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education, in relation to an application by the Salesian College in Celbridge, County Kildare for a building extension, if she will have arrangements made that some of the stages in the six-stage process could be taken together in order to speed up the completion thereof; the proposed timeframe for completion of the extension; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13151/96]

The school authorities recently submitted the developed sketch scheme for this project to the post primary building unit of my Department. When this documentation has been examined in full by my Department's technical staff, the project will be progressed further. This project is being planned in accordance with the Department's design team procedures relative to large projects, and accordingly, it must proceed as outlined in these procedures. Therefore, it is not possible to combine any of the stages outstanding in the architectural, planning of the proposed new extension. As the building project is in the early stages of planning, I am not in a position to indicate a proposed timeframe for completion of the extension. However, I wish to assure the Deputy that every effort will be made to progress this project.
