Vol. 467 No. 3

Written Answers. - Road Accidents.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

88 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Justice the number of accidents that have occurred on the stretch of road from the end of the Maynooth/Kilcock by-pass, County Kildare to the village of Enfield, County Meath, in each of the years 1994 and 1995 and to date in 1996; the number of persons killed and injured in these accidents; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13139/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information requested by the Deputy is not readily available and could be complied only by the diversion to the task of a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources.

Information in relation to all road traffic accidents reported to the Garda authorities is supplied by the Garda to the National Roads Authority. A detailed annual report on road accidents is prepared and published by that authority.
