Vol. 467 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Application.

Noel Ahern

Question:

227 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will refer to grant applications made for the past two years for the provision and/or renewal of office equipment from the Rural Resettlement Organisation Head-quarters; and whether approval will be given in respect of this application in view of the good work done by this group. [13275/96]

An application for funding from Rural Resettlement Ireland Limited, under the 1996 scheme of grants to voluntary organisations, in respect of office equipment, is currently being processed by my Department. A decision on this application will be announced shortly.

Due to the large number of applications for grants, under the scheme of grants to voluntary organisations in 1995, it was not possible to allocate a grant to Rural Resettlement Ireland Limited last year.

I understand that the Department of the Environment has allocated £60,000 to this organisation in 1996 bringing that Department's total grant aid to Rural Resettlement Ireland Limited to £215,000 since 1992.
