Vol. 467 No. 6

Written Answers. - Cattle Identification Scheme.

James Leonard

Question:

127 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the percentage of cattle identification tag requirements that are imported. [13860/96]

It is assumed that the Deputy is referring to the new cattle identification scheme introduced earlier this year. The plastic tags introduced under this scheme are imported. The Deputy will be aware that, by virtue of EU requirements, tenders for such a supply contract cannot be assessed on the basis of the geographical location of the manufacturer.
