Vol. 467 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Lottery Grants.

Joe Walsh

Question:

72 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Health the total amount paid out in national lottery grants from 1 January 1996, to date by his Department in respect of each county or constituency in the country; and the specific project funded from each grant allocation. [13886/96]

Limerick East): The health allocation of national lottery funds for 1996 is £22.084 million. This includes £4 million which forms part of the funding for the capital programme. Of the remaining £18.084 million a total of £13.064 million is committed to fund ongoing services administered by health boards or by bodies which have a close relationship with my Department. A further £3.340 million is allocated to health agencies to fund the respite care grants scheme and the schemes of grants to voluntary organisations.

As the Deputy is aware a limited amount of discretionary funding is available to me from the proceeds of the national lottery. The amount available for 1996 is £1.68 million.
