Vol. 467 No. 6

Written Answers. - Outreach Courses.

John Browne

Question:

89 Mr. Browne (Wexford) asked the Minister for Education the reason her Department has instructed Carlow Regional College to withdraw outreach courses at Saint Peter's College, Wexford; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that these courses were well attended and regarded as the most successful in the country; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13827/96]

The courses in question were established in an outreach centre in Wexford by Carlow regional technical college without authority or authorisation from my Department.

Following correspondence between my Department and the Director of Carlow regional technical college officials from my Department visited the college last week to clarify a number of issues. My officials have briefed me on their findings. I will take decisions shortly with particular regard to the interests of the students.
