Vol. 467 No. 7

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Donal Moynihan

Question:

289 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has to appoint in the immediate future a garda to the Garda station of Glantane Village, Mallow, County Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14375/96]

The detailed allocation of Garda personnel and resources to individual areas is a matter for the Garda authorities. They have informed me that at present there is one garda attached to Glantane Garda station and that this has been the case for the past three years. In addition, the Glantane area is patrolled by units based at the district headquarters at Mallow and by the traffic corps unit based at Anglesea Street. The Garda authorities have stated that they are satisfied with the present policing arrangements for the area and it is not envisaged that additional personnel will be allocated to the station.
