Vol. 467 No. 7

Written Answers. - Mayo River Fisheries Improvements.

Michael Ring

Question:

438 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine the location of the fisheries improvement works on the Castlehill River, Ballina, County Mayo; when this work commenced; the expected date of completion; and the length of river involved. [13952/96]

The development and improvement of fisheries on the Castlehill River is a matter for the North-Western Regional Fisheries Board.

The board has confirmed to me that development works on the Castlehill River got under way on 13 May 1996 and are expected to be completed by 12 July next. The works in question are being carried out in the townlands of Dervin and Ballyduff and the length of river involved is approximately 1,000 yards.

The manager of the North-Western Regional Fisheries Board, Ardnaree House, Abbey Street, Ballina, County Mayo would be glad to provide the Deputy with full details on the development works on the Castlehill River and to keep him fully apprised of progress.
