55 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Finance whether he intends to amend the Valuation Acts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14202/96]
Work is progressing in my Department and in the Valuation Office on the preparation of the draft heads of a single, comprehensive and modern valuation Bill, which will streamline and update the valuation system. As the current valuation code incorporates legislation stretching over a period of a century and a half, work on its replacement by a modern statute is a necessarily complex and painstaking task. I would not expect that a fully drafted valuation Bill would be ready for the consideration of Dáil Éireann for some time yet.
