622 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the number of orders made by the High Court and the Supreme Court under the Adoption Act, 1988 in each year since its commencement, permitting the adoption of a child and declining to permit the adoption of a child; and the total number of cases instituted to date under this Act. [15670/96]

Court statistics are not compiled in such a way as to record orders made under each piece of family law legislation and the information sought by the Deputy is not readily available but is being compiled. I will arrange for it to be forwarded as soon as possible but the Deputy should be aware that the compilation of same may take some time.
