Noel Dempsey

Question:

45 Mr. Dempsey asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the current position held by a person (details supplied) in the Office of the Tánaiste or in the Department of Foreign Affairs; the current salary, if any, he receives from State sources; if he is no longer being employed by the State, when such employment ceased; and when payment from State sources ceased. [15276/96]

Mr. Fergus Finlay holds no position in either the Department of Foreign Affairs or the office of the Tánaiste. While he remains available to assist on Anglo-Irish matters, he does so on an unremunerated basis, and has not received a salary from State sources since May 16 last. Vouched expenses in relation to travel and subsistence arising from this role are payable in accordance with the standard rates. To date no such expenses have been paid.
