Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Confidentiality Clauses.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

673 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Justice the person/organisation who negotiated the confidentiality clauses relating to the amount of settlements agreed and paid in relation to claims settled by the State in respect of injuries and damage caused by persons on temporary release; the reason therefor; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15804/96]

The Deputy will be aware it is common legal practice for civil claim settlements to contain a confidentiality clause. I am not aware of any precedent for providing the information sought by the Deputy in this respect.
