Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Finucane

Question:

633 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a REP scheme payment will be made under the second year scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16598/96]

The person concerned applied for his second year payment under the REP scheme. However, under revised monitoring and control procedures implemented by my Department, compliance checks are required to ensure that farmers have completed the specific works outlined during the first year of the plan before second year payments can be made.

A compliance check was carried out on the applicant's farm. It was established that certain work had not been carried out by him in the first year of the plan. The applicant has provided a reason for this failure. As a result the case is being looked at again.

Frank Crowley

Question:

634 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will consider awarding a full REP scheme grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [16605/96]

The position is that the appeal lodged by the applicant concerned is currently under consideration with my Department. A decision will be made on the appeal as soon as possible.

Question:

635 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a decision will be made regarding a person (details supplied) in County Cork who has applied for a 1995 suckler cow premium scheme. [16606/96]

Michael Creed

Question:

640 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a decision will be made on an application for a suckler cow grant by a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [16861/96]

I propose taking Questions Nos. 635 and 640 together.

I assume that Deputy Creed is also referring to this herdowner's 1995 suckler cow premium scheme application.

This herdowner had lodged an appeal with the Headage and Premia Appeals Unit concerning his 1995 suckler cow premium scheme application. This appeal is now being considered.

He will be notified of the outcome of this appeal as soon as his case has been fully examined by the Headage and Premia Appeals Unit.
