Vol. 469 No. 2

Written Answers. - Provision of MRI Scan.

Liam Aylward

Question:

67 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health the reason for the delay in having an MRI scan arranged in Beaumont Hospital for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [17084/96]

Limerick East): I understand the person in question attended Beaumont Hospital on 1 August 1996 and was given an appointment to have an Neuro-surgical MRI scan carried out on 5 December 1996. The reason for the delay is due to the volume of patients who are referred for this examination and the priority which emergency cases are given. If the person in question feels that his case demands more urgent attention he should contact his general practitioner who would be in the best position to highlight the urgency of his case to Beaumont Hospital.
