Vol. 469 No. 3

Written Answers. - Safety of Kilbarrack (Dublin) School.

Seán Kenny

Question:

144 Mr. S. Kenny asked the Minister for Education the current position in relation to an examination carried out by an architect from her Department into the safety of the school building at Gaelscoil Míde, Kilbarrack, Dublin 5; and if he will make a statement on the future of this school. [17413/96]

A structural engineer was engaged during the summer holidays to assess the structural condition of the school building at Gaelscoil Míde, Kilbarrack. He recommended structural improvement works. These have now been successfuly completed. The structural engineer is satisfied with the condition of the building. The question of the future arrangements for the school is currently being considered by my Department's planning and building unit. My department will be in touch with the school management in the matter in due course.
