Vol. 469 No. 7

Written Answers. - MMR Programme.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

93 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health if the intends to introduce an MMR programme of vaccinations for three to five year old which protects against measles, mumps and rubella. [18182/96]

Limerick East): As part of the national primary childhood immunisation programme, immunisation against measles, mumps and rubella, MMR, is administered to children at the age of 15 months. A booster dose of MMR is given to both boys and girls in the ten to 14 year age group.

The effectiveness of the immunisation programme is constantly monitored by my Department. There are no proposals at this time to introduce an MMR programme of vaccinations for three to five year olds.
