Question:

132 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the State companies, if any, under the aegis of his Department; the number employed in each such company; and the amount of the State investment in and annual subvention to each, where applicable. [19342/96]

The following information details the numbers employed and the annual grant-in-aid approved in 1996 to bodies under the aegis of my Department which I regard as falling within the scope of the Deputy's question. Details of the numbers employed have been provided by the bodies in question. The Deputy will appreciate that I have no statutory function in relation to the numbers employed by RTE.

Bord na Gaeilge

Employees, 30; Grant-in-aid, £2,500,000.

Bord Scannán na hÉireann

Employees, 4; Grant-in-aid, £3,410,000.

Broadcasting Complaints Commission

Employees — Secretarial service provided on a part-time basis by the Department of Finance; Grant-in-aid, £10,000.

An Chomhairle Ealaíon

Employees, 26; Grant-in-aid, £18,400,000.

An Chomhairle Oidhreachta

Employees, 10; Grant-in-aid, £2,200,000.

Independent Radio and Television Commission
