Appointments to the board of Shannon Development are made by me in consultation with the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Tourism and Trade. There is currently no vacancy on the board of Shannon Development, and the next vacancies are not expected to arise until April or May of 1997 when, in accordance with the company's articles of association, the two longest serving directors will be required to retire on the occasion of the company's annual general meeting.
I have made no decision as yet regarding future appointments to the board of Shannon Development, but I believe mid-west tourism interests are well represented on the board.
