Vol. 470 No. 6

Written Answers. - CIE Redundancy Schemes.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

14 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if £3.8 million was set aside for redundancy in the 1995 CIÉ accounts; and the amount of that money which was spent on redundancy in 1995. [18969/96]

I am informed that a total of £3.8 million was set aside for redundancy in the 1995 accounts of Bus Átha Cliath. I understand £1.4 million of this total was spent in 1995 and that it is expected that the remainder will be spent in 1996. The operation of the redundancy schemes within the CIE companies is the day-to-day responsibility of CIE and its subsidiary companies and I have no function in the matter.
