Vol. 470 No. 8

Written Answers. - Physiotherapists' Pay.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

78 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Health the progress, if any, which has been made regarding the payment of physiotherapists in a way comparable with other graduate health care professionals; the new initiatives, if any, he will introduce in order to ensure fair pay for such physiotherapists; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20146/96]

Limerick East): As the Deputy is aware, the talks between my Department and IMPACT, on behalf of physiotherapists are complex. However, negotiations are ongoing, under the auspices of the Health Service Employers Agency, with a view to arriving at a mutually satisfactory conclusion as soon as possible. In the circumstances any further comment on my part would not be appropriate or helpful.
