Vol. 471 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cork School Extension.

Joe Walsh

Question:

174 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the provision of specialist accommodation to a school (details supplied) in County Cork. [20365/96]

A technical planning and briefing meeting concerning the provision of an extension at this school was held on 23 July 1996. Further to discussions at this meeting, a revised schedule of accommodation issued to the school authorities. Subject to acceptance of the revised schedule, the school's design team has been authorised to prepare a revised stage two submission for this project, that is the outline sketch scheme. Further stages of planning to be completed by the school's design team include developed sketch scheme, detail design, bills of quantities and tender action and report. The question of providing capital funds for building will not arise until the planning process has been fully completed. Every effort is being made to have the planning of the extension completed as quickly as possible.
