Vol. 471 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Raid in Dublin 7.

Tony Gregory

Question:

188 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice the reason the Garda raided the home of an 80 year-old woman (details supplied) in Dublin 7; and if they intend to return to her the very old cameras which are of sentimental value to her. [20284/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the house in question was searched on the basis of a warrant issued under the provisions of section 29 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939. During the search, the Garda seized a number of cameras they believed to have been stolen. Following inquiries, it was established that the cameras were not stolen and they were returned to the person from whom they had been seized.
