230 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Defence the current position regarding his Department's investigation of possible sources of good second-hand fire appliances; if the appliances required by the Civil Defence AFS units in south Tipperary can be acquired; when the units will be provided with this equipment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is currently endeavouring to source good second-hand fire appliances and if negotiations are successful I would hope to have the appliances available for distribution early next year when the needs of south Tipperary will receive careful consideration.
