Vol. 471 No. 1

Written Answers. - Amnesty for Semi-State Companies.

Charlie McCreevy

Question:

67 Mr. McCreevy asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to offer semi-State companies an amnesty in respect of payment of unvouched expenses to their employees. [16733/96]

The only amnesty that might arise in this context may be some form of tax amnesty. I am not sure if this is what the Deputy has in mind. I assure the House, however, that no such amnesty is being contemplated and that where tax is due on any such payments it will be up to the Revenue Commissioners to pursue the tax as appropriate. As the Deputy will appreciate, I have no function in relation to the assessment and collection of tax in individual cases in this way.
