Vol. 471 No. 1

Written Answers. - Credit for Time Served Abroad.

Derek McDowell

Question:

106 Mr. D. McDowell asked the Minister for Finance whether public sector employees, including civil servants, receive credit in relation to seniority in respect of time served abroad with the United Nations Development Programme. [20346/96]

The position in the Civil Service, the area for which I am directly responsible, is that seniority is a matter for determination by the head of each individual Department. However, in so far as the reckonability towards service of time served abroad with bodies such as the UN Development Programme is concerned, there are provisions whereby such service may be credited to the employee.
