Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Deasy — the need to formulate a policy to assist owners of thatched commercial premises to enable them to retain or replace existing structures because of their heritage and cultural values; (2) Deputy de Valera — the plans, if any, the Minister for Justice has for changes in the Censorship of Films Acts; (3) Deputy Callely — the deteriorating situation in Scoil Fhursa and Scoil Íde, Cromcastle Green, Kilmore West, Dublin 5, the findings and recommendations of the recent departmental inspection and the time scale governing the works to be undertaken in this regard; (4) Deputy Lynch — the urgent need for the Minister for the Environment to make funding available to alleviate the hardship caused by the recent flooding in Cork; (5) Deputy Sargent — the concentration of the resources of the Department of the Environment on relatively non-hazardous packaging waste in view of the fact that regulations have not yet been made under sections 6(2), 32(2), 57 and 58 of the Waste Management Act, 1996, which deals with chemical and other hazardous waste; (6) Deputy Costello — the need for the Minister for Health to improve the casualty and out-patient facilities in the Mater Hospital; (7) Deputy O'Rourke — the urgent need for the Minister for the Environment to give the go-ahead to the long awaited north Westmeath group water scheme; (8) Deputy Davern — the urgent need for the appointment of a paediatrician to St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, County Tipperary; (9) Deputy Seán Kenny — the urgent need for the Minister for Health to provide drug treatment services in the Darndale-Priorswood area of Dublin 17; (10) Deputy Tom Kitt — the need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to respond to the request from African leaders at their Summit meeting in Nairobi on 5 November 1996 that a neutral force be deployed in Eastern Zaire to create safe corridors and repatriate refugees to Rwanda and Burundi; (11) Deputy Lawlor — the need for the Minister for Health, in respect of area 6 of the Eastern Health Board, to review the issue of residential places for the mentally handicapped, the serious decline in funding for community care and the need for funding to deal with the residential care waiting list; (12) Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — to ask the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will ensure that the headquarters of An Bord Gáis will remain in Cork; (13) Deputy Eoin Ryan — the decisions taken in relation to the National Convention Centre at the RDS; (14) Deputy Ó Cuív — the need for the tourist resort scheme to be extended to cover Clifden, County Galway, as this is one of the major tourist areas in the country; (15) Deputy McDaid — the need to address the problem facing Donegal Livestock Mart in the current method valuation; and (16) Deputy John Browne (Wexford)— the need to ensure that the railway lines and passenger trains on the Rosslare/Dublin and Dublin/Rosslare routes be upgraded to modern standards.

The matters raised by Deputies Tom Kitt, Ó Cuív, Davern and O'Rourke have been selected for discussion.
