Ivor Callely

60 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance his views on whether a tax allowance system should be reviewed in order to put in place an innovative system of allowances for parents towards the cost of child care and related matters; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20684/96]

Seán Power

Question:

62 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Finance whether he will introduce tax relief for parents on the cost of child care. [20517/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 60 and 62 together. Any proposals in this area will be considered in the context of the 1997 budget and the benefits of any such proposals will be considered in comparison to other possible tax changes.
