Question:

63 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Finance when the next advertisement will appear in the public press for recruitment to the Civil Service; and when it is proposed to hold countrywide examinations for entrance to the Civil Service. [20523/96]

Advertisements are placed from time to time by the Civil Service Commissioners for various competitions for a wide range of civil service appointments. In general such advertisements appear as and when the holding of a particular competition is necessary.

64 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Finance the length of time the currently constituted panel for the Civil Service will be operative. [20524/96]

The length of time for which panels set up by the Civil Service Commissioners remain operative will depend on a variety of factors, such as the number of positions which require to be filled and the number of qualified candidates.
