Vol. 471 No. 2

Written Answers. - Civil Service Pay.

Alan Shatter

Question:

65 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Finance if he will ensure that the uplift based on seniority due on 1 October 1996, will be paid to eligible executive officers and higher executive officers by all Departments with 50 or more staff, in each of the two grades, without further delay. [20525/96]

The agreement with the Public Service Executive Union states that it shall be for the head of each Department to select the officers to be progressed to the higher scales. While I appreciate the Deputy's anxiety that the uplifts based on seniority be implemented without delay this is a matter for each individual Department. In any event all these uplifts will be made with effect from 1 October 1996.
