Vol. 471 No. 6

Written Answers. - Conflict in Sudan.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

67 Mr. Dempsey asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the action, if any, he has taken in relation to the current situation in Sudan, particularly in relation to the need for peace in the area and also in relation to the provision of aid to relieve the suffering being experienced by many in the displaced persons camp in the north of Sudan. [21418/96]

I refer the Deputy to my written reply to Question No. 45 of 12 November 1996, in which I have outlined the current steps being taken by the Government and the EU in order to convey our concerns to the Sudanese authorities about the need to pursue the peace process in Sudan and to provide assistance to those who have suffered from the conflict.
