Question:187 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the locations of the proposed designated national heritage areas and special areas of conservation in County Galway. [22195/96]
Written Answers. - National Heritage Areas.
As there is a substantial number of sites proposed for designation as natural heritage areas in County Galway I am arranging to have the list of sites, together with maps indicating their location, forwarded to the Deputy by the National Parks and Wildlife Service of my Department.
Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) will be designated when the EU Habitats Directive is transposed into Irish law. This transposition is in the final stage of preparation and all candidate SACs will be publicly advertised after the transposition occurs.
