Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Ivor Callely

Question:

413 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of personnel within his Department who are on career breaks, job sharing or have other special arrangements. [22099/96]

The number of people currently on a career break-secondment from my Department is 124 and those who are job sharing amount to 322. There are no other staff on leave under special arrangements, with the exception of the number, which varies periodically, on short-term leave for the purposes of marriage, death of an immediate relative, or leave granted for unforeseen family illness, etc.

Question:

415 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the total cost of non-civil or public service staff attached to his office in 1995; the anticipated costs in 1996; and if he will give the comparative figures for each of the years 1987 and 1988. [20012/96]

The total salary costs of non-civil or public service staff attached to my office in 1995 was £47,489. The anticipated costs in 1996 are £103,816. It is not possible to give the Deputy comparative figures for the years of 1987 and 1988 as the areas of Transport, Energy and Communications were spread between three different Departments at that stage.
