Vol. 471 No. 8

Written Answers. - Judicial Separation.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

25 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Justice the number of judicial separations recorded in the years 1994 and 1995; the number of such cases which involved the division of land, homes or other property; and the costs which are incurred in obtaining a judicial separation. [21783/96]

Statistics on the number of applications for judicial separation received in and granted by the Circuit Court in the legal year ending 31 July 1994 and 31 July 1995 are set out hereunder. Statistics on the number of cases which involved the division of land, homes or other property are not available. While the question of costs incurred in obtaining a judicial separation is a matter for the parties concerned and their legal advisers, applications for judicial separation which are made to the Circuit Court are exempt from court fees.
