Question:

41 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Justice whether she has satisfied herself with the operation of the 1984 job-sharing scheme within her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21808/96]

The number of staff coming under the general responsibility of my Department who are at present job-sharing are set out in the following table.

I am not aware that there is any particular problem in relation to the various job-sharing arrangements that operate in my Department at present. It is the policy of my Department to facilitate persons who apply to job-share as far as possible, subject to the exigencies of the service and arrangements agreed with staff associations, and provided that the applicants fall within the terms of the Department of Finance regulations relating to the scheme.
