Mary O'Rourke
Question:72 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Health if he will review the case of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who urgently requires special surgery; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this person was told by the specialist she consulted under the medical card system that there was no more that could be done for her; if his attention has been further drawn to the fact that a consultant neurosurgeon under the private system has now recommended treatment for this specific problem and that this person had to pay half of the family weekly income for this appointment; if he will have arrangements made for immediate treatment for this patient in view of her increasingly crippling condition; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
