Vol. 471 No. 8

Written Answers. - Peace and Reconciliation Programme.

Declan Bree

Question:

80 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the McDermott Terrace Residents Association, Manorhamilton, County Leitrim, has been approved for grant aid for the development of a Peace Walk by ADM/CPA under Measure 2 of Sub-Programme 2 (C) of the Special Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation, subject to receipt of a letter from his Department confirming that the project is in line with general policy for the area concerned; and when a decision will be made regarding the provision of the letter of approval. [22374/96]

The administration of Measure 2 of Sub-Programme 2 (C) of the Special Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation is a matter for Area Development Management Ltd., ADM. It is understood that this application for funding under Measure 2 was approved by ADM subject, inter alia, to checking with my Department if any national standards apply. No communication has, however, been received by my Department from ADM or the local authority. No national standards apply in the case of amenities of this nature. ADM is being advised of this.
