Vol. 472 No. 1

Written Answers. - Trade with Burma/Myanmar.

Ben Briscoe

Question:

279 Mr. Briscoe asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if he will give details of all the Irish based companies who trade with Burma/Myanmar. [22394/96]

CSO trade figures indicate that trade with Burma/Myanmar is minimal and amounted to only £1.6 million in 1995 made up of £1.3 million in exports and £0.3 million in imports. However, returns furnished by individual companies to the Central Statistics Office which is responsible for compiling trade statistics, are made on a strictly confidential basis and therefore I am not in a position to furnish the information sought by the Deputy.
