Vol. 472 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

66 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the reason an application (details supplied) to her Department for national lottery funding has not been successful; and if she will reconsider this project for a town in County Cork. [23560/96]

The demand for funding under both the recreational facilities scheme and the major facilities scheme has continued to increase in recent years. In view of the relatively limited funds available for allocation and the very large number of applications received, it was not possible to include the project on this occasion.

I expect that further funding will become available in 1997 and in that event every consideration will be given to the project when decisions are being made on grant allocations next year.
