Vol. 472 No. 5

Written Answers. - Teacher Appointments.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

71 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the need for a remedial teacher at a school (details supplied) in County Monaghan; if so, if she will appoint a remedial teacher; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23605/96]

I approved the allocation of an additional 73ex-quota remedial posts to second level schools for the 1995-6 school year. These posts were allocated on the basis of priority of need and having regard to the existing provision in schools. Given this fact and the limited number of posts available, I was not in a position to allocate a remedial post to the school in question.

The position of the school will be considered again when next it is possible to allocate additional remedial posts.
