102 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education when the membership of the new council of the National Council for Vocational Awards will be appointed; when the previous term of office of members concluded; and the reason for the delay in re-appointing the council. [24068/96]
The previous term of office of the National Council for Vocational Awards expired on 31 August 1996. I reappointed the chairperson from 1 September 1996 and I began consultations with the various interests seeking proposals for membership of the new council in July 1996. I am happy to say that nominations to the new council have just been completed. I am asking that the new council convene as soon as possible in order to continue its important work.
The new term of office will operate until 31 August 1999 or the date of establishment of TEASTAS on a statutory basis, whichever is the earlier.
