Vol. 472 No. 7

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

109 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education when final approval will be given for the urgently needed extension to Archbishop Ryan's national school, Balgaddy, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, in view of the fact that the pupil numbers are projected to increase from 416 in 1996 to 500 in September 1997. [24108/96]

A building project at Archbishop Ryan national school, Balgaddy, Clondalkin is included in my Department's 1996 capital programme. The inclusion of the project enables it to progress through architectural planning.

My Department's planning section is currently reviewing both the short-term and long-term accommodation needs of the school. I expect that the review will be completed shortly. My Department will then be in touch with the school to settle on an accommodation brief. The issue of final approval will not arise until all the planning work has been completed
