Vol. 473 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Austin Deasy

Question:

213 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the provision of adequate transport facilities for a number of children in the Dungarvan area of County Waterford attending a special needs class in the Presentation primary school, Clonmel, County Tipperary; and the progress, if any, which has been made in this regard in view of her reply to a previous Parliamentary Question in this regard on 8 October 1996. [24293/96]

My Department is continuing its efforts to resolve the issue in question at the earliest possible date. In the meantime, I have arranged that grant payments in respect of private transport arrangements will be made to the parents in question on a monthly basis, rather than the normal annual payments.
